First Working Sunday

Working in the education field, never would I expect to receive an emergency work call on a Sunday. YESSS!! A friggin SUNDAY!! Of course, it is not related to pupils but rather admin work... and to top it all off, I had the worst luck in the whole world today! Almost could not make it back to my rental place. =_="'

Despite it all, that's life right? Oh well, after a good whine, time to move on! Chiong ah!!!

Life's All Good

Today marks the second month of me working. Actually, I was kind of suprised of making it this far since I started this journey with one hell of a bumpy ride. Now, I am getting used to my daily routine here:

wake up --> bath --> work, teach, scold, coach --> bath --> quick afternoon nap (Mon&Wed), cram activities (Tue&Thu) --> bath --> dinner --> work, sit in front of the lappie
throughout the night, socialize with the world --> sleep

Eeeepps, I can even memorize the whole process without any schedule. Heck, I would even automatically wake up around 6a.m. during weekends. LOL. Life's treating me good here. Colleagues have been treating me well and I am beginning to gain back my passion to be a good teacher especially towards my Year 5 pupils. They're unbelievably adorable when you get to know them better!!

Currently am focusing myself to work and hopefully, I can still keep my study spirit in the jar to continue my study 4 years later after my contract with the government is due. Praise the Lord!

Ok, I have been neglecting my blog for quite some time. After all those ups and downs in the sea called life, I have finally managed to crawl myself back here to blog about it. Up first and one of the foremost important event in my life, GRADUATION! I have finally graduated!!!

Being the pioneer group of PISMP *cough* the *cough* white rat *cough* group *cough*, the convocation ceremony could not be more grand. Venue? Putrajaya International Convention Centre! 477 Mathematicians had their graduation on the morning of 17th April 2011, including me! *proud*

Enlightment

This morning, I received a link from Cindy. It's a song called "You are for Me" by Kari Jobe. Listening to this song over and over again with my eyes closed, I felt that God was right beside me. I was quite sure He was and He whispered to me to "Hang on" like what my mom have been telling me the last few days. I think I felt him patting me on my head before He left. Imagination? I have no idea.. but it felt really real.

Then, tears just run down my cheeks. It's a mixed feeling but I am pretty sure I felt the feeling of relieved being in there. No more giving up to depression for I will hang on. For He will not forsake me in my weakness, I should not be giving up this easily.

I also know that He is not the only one who will not forsake me in my weakness. My mother, my brother, my relatives have been there by my side too to help me overcoming this obstacle. Of course, to my dear friends too. Thanks for not forsaking me in my weakness. I really am grateful that you guys tried to cheer me up in every way!~ ♥

Being Homesick

This is going to be quite an emotional/whiny post. So, if you plan on calling me ungrateful or to judge me in any sort of negative way, I suggest you to stop reading and just exit this browser. This girl need to release some emotion or she'll blow up into million pieces.

Last week, this very same day, I could be described as cheerful, crazy and fun! All that has changed. I am now Audrey the moody, depressed and lifeless.

My first placement at SJK (C) Chung Hua Engkilili brought me to know nice colleagues. A bunch of nice people who I can see been helping me to adapt to the life there. So far, that's the only positive thing I can feel being there.

I know, I know. Compared to most of my coursemates, I am considered to be lucky to be placed at a school that could be reached by road. Constant electricity and water supply as well as being able to have Internet and mobile line.

However, being brought up in a family of single parent, I dare to say that I am deeply attached to my mom and my brother. To top it off, my mother suffers from thyroiditis which affects her heart. Her condition is getting worse and she's living alone. It just hurt my heart and soul not to be able to stay with her and to look after her. Every single day being away from her is killing me.

When I'm in Engkilili, I failed to put my heart and soul into educating the pupils there. Their main communication language is Mandarin and being as banana as I am, I can't seem to communicate with them effectively. I had to rojakkan my Mandarin, Bahasa and English just to deliver a simple message. Unlike my last Internship, I have not yet discover that same passion and fire to teach and to love teaching...

My living condition there does not help either. As it is a small town, it is hard to find a rental place where I could walk to my working place. Currently, I am living in a room that was once a store with poor air ventilation. Sun ray and wind could not reach my room. Hence, I need to switch on the light which made the room more humid. I'm anticipating heat-stroke anytime soon. Oh and I can't use any electrical appliances with high voltage or else I'll lose my only electric socket there is!

I guess this is one of the down time in my life. I'm super emo and super homesick right now. However, I do believe in time, it'll heal together with God's help. For now, I guess I need to whine it out.

So, be grateful with your current life if it does not give you any difficulty! Love thy parents cause you'll definitely misses them when you have to be apart from them!

The Much Awaited News

The much awaited news that bound to come has finally arrived. I woke up to a call that excitedly exclaimed our placement's out. Hence, I called JPN Sarawak anxiously. Fifth call and it got through. My placement: SJK (C) Chung Hua Engkilili, Lubok Antu, Sarawak.

The first thing that disturbed me was not its location but rather the fact that it is a Chinese school. I was shocked to find out that I got posted to a Chinese school when I barely know how to converse in Mandarin, what's more to say to be able to read or write in Chinese! However, I am grateful that it is just a four hours drive from Kuching. Road accessible, electricity, water supply, phone line, all there. To add to a bonus point is that the school is located inside a town!

I headed out to JPN Sarawak to collect my placement letter. The attitude of the two officers who handed me the letter made my day worse. FRIENDLY is definitely not a word to describe them. I really felt like a dumb person that got thrown into a cage of vicious lions. All I could do during those 10 minutes was nodding and talking in a soft voice.

Anyhow, I guess I can't run from this fact, no matter how much I wanted to. I am just praying to God to guide me for what is best in my life and to give me the strength to get through this stage step by step. Oh how I miss my carefree childhood life now!

Laksa Sarawak

Being a Sarawakian, there is one food that I am proud to have in my hometown.

Everytime I saw this picture, it always make me drools. I love Laksa Sarawak. The fresh prawns, chicken stripes, beansprout and vermicelli along with its yummylicious sauce.

I never get tired of eating it. Every week, my mom and I would bring my grandmama to eat Laksa Sarawak. We usually go to the one at 3rd Mile Golden Arch Commercial Centre. However, last week, we went to Chong Choon Cafe's located next to the Air Asia's office. Actually both tasted similar but what I like about the Laksa Sarawak from Chong Choon is that it has less coconut milk.

This dish is a must-eat dish when you are in Sarawak, especially in Kuching!

It's one week after New Year. Can I still wish Happy New Year!? LOL...

2010 has been a roller coaster for me. For study life, I had a hectic one. It was the final year and the research assigned had really gave me a big impact. Sleepless nights, incomplete data, literature review, citations... However, being able to complete and published it, I could not be anymore happier.

2010 was also the year where I had to bid farewell to my coursemates and those of the same batch. I spent five and half years with them, literally. We stayed at the same hostel, ate together, celebrated occasions together and joined all sort of activities together. Well, I can't say that all of it was of sweet moments but all are definitely worth to be remembered. I would not want to replace my coursemates with any other.

Other than study life, I am also grateful for my family and friends I have around. Be it coursemates or good old Greenian friends. They were the one who made my life more colorful and pushed me to strive for another day.

2010 has been good to me. Thanks for everything and in case I have hurt anyone including you in any other way, I am sorry from the bottom of my heart. I wish 2011 would be better for all!

Oh ya.. My 2011 Resolutions!

Stop pushing myself outside my limit by learning how to say "No".
Live a healthier life. Less junk food, instants and more exercising.
Resume my routine to donate blood.
Spend more time to help around the house.
Complete a round of Bible. Gain more understanding on God.
Spend more time with friends when they are around. Less "FFK".. xP

Kicking Off 2011

When it comes to celebration, especially New Year, most youth out there would be thinking of going to bar, pub and all those stuff. Yeah, that was once me..

This year, together with few friends, we did it differently. We went to a friend's house (thanks to the parents for letting us use their house, really appreciate it much!), bought two crates of Heineken and some food. Some might think that it is a common thing and less fun than being in a pub or a bar but to me, spending the countdown moment with few friends in a quiet place where the room is all to yourselves is better than crowding up in a humid place where you could barely breath out of the thick smokey atmosphere. Well, each person has different opinion on how to enjoy right? :)

During the countdown, lotsa incident happened. Strangers became acquiantances and acquiantances became friends. Friends get to share moments be it of sensitive, humorous or even embarrasing! Talking about embarassing, I kinda regretted suggesting them to play "Truth". When they managed to catch question which I do not want to spill, I felt my whole life was between the Valley of Embarrasement and Gateway to Hell. However, thinking back about it, it is kinda silly and that silliness would make them remember me of my true self (Thanks to lotsa Heineken which made my secret's barrier thinner and made me blurted out things I shouldn't have..)

Anyway, these kinda moments would always make us feel that friends are more precious than diamonds. The joy and memory that we spent together with our friends are seriously priceless. I am grateful that I always have them around (even though most of the time, I only get to see them every six months) and making me believe that life is always beautiful. :)

Paintball Shenanigan

To me, paintball is an activity involving adrenaline rush of survival where we can shoot someone and we won't be convicted of murdering or injuring people. Like what it says; Play at your own risk.

Yesterday, I had tremendous fun trying it for the first time. The first few rounds, you'll bound to whine over the pain but heck, those bruises are definitely incomparable with the tonnes of joy that I got to enjoy. Most of the time, it's hide or run. However, when you saw a member of the opposing team, the shooting begins.

You'll love it once you've tried it! Of course, with the right gang around you. :)

Journey of Study Life (Degree)

I remembered the first time I got an offer letter to this course. I dropped on my knee and cried so hard. Well, if I have stopped here, you might think that I cried because I'm overwhelmed. Boo boooo.. Wrong! I cried because I did not want this course. I cried because my dream job was fading far far away from me. I dreamed to be a designer. I dreamed to find a job of my dream as Conficious said, "When you have a job you love, you won't be working another day of your life.."

So, with a sad face, a heavy and unwilling heart, I took the offer. Partly because mom don't let me enter Taylor's. 7 hours ride to the college and there it stood. Admist all the trees and no tall buildings within like 30km radius? I registered and went into my room. I was dead shock to see how dirty the place is. More like a haunted house. Clean, clean, clean. Unpacked and bid my family goodbye.

Orientation week. I was the youngest among all. A crybaby, I am. Looking back at it, I pity my roomate at that time, Connie Ting for having to hear me sobs the whole week. However, miracously, I survived that week. One week being tormented by seniors. Sleepless night. Oh what memories it was.

There it was. 16 of us. Pretty laid back at first. Not much lecture to attend to. I also had problem communicating with the rest as my Mandarin was freaking terrible at that time. I was like partially deaf and whole dumb when it comes to Mandarin. With patience, rest of the Chinese girls in my class were patient enough to teach me. Much appreciation even until today. :)

Few weeks later, comes six more girls. Pretty girls. There's even two that are taller than me, making me the third tallest in the class with Lung Lung. Now, we have 22 in the class.

Everyday, we had lectures until the Sun decided to set in. I remembered that we only had like three classes present in the college with all the other seniors out for practicum. The lecturers were eager to enter our class.. even when it was not in the schedule. So, we appreciated their enthuiasm and effort in educating us, trying their hardest to guide us in passing the evaluation assessment.

There were also various events to attend to such as event celebration, marathon, sports and et cetera. Our relationships were tight. We knew who is who and what was going on within the college. Pish, posh.. Tick, tock. One and a half years passed by. We did barbeque for farewell and everyone cried until their eyes wanna popped out.

January 2007 arrived. Campus changed to Kota Samarahan. 22 together again! Tsk! Nobody was away.. lol~ The class was tight at first but got more loose with the time as this campus is bigger. People spread to make new friends. Less events to attend to and more assignments to deal with. Dealing with assignments and poofed! 4 years were gone! I can't believe I have completed my degree in Education. Love and hate. Give and take. I learned to love my job, my profession. Though designing is still my first choice, I believe I can make way for educating children.

I'm gonna GRADUATE soon! Wooohooo!~

Bloated Week

Last Wednesday, I've finally presented my research! WooHoo! Although I looked kinda dumb on the video, I'll just ignore that and enjoy the feeling of freedom! ^^

Oh ya.. felt bloated this week since on Tuesday, went to KFC to celebrate Bobby's birthday and just now, went to Pizza Hut to celebrate the success of research presentation (for few of us)..

Man, so gonna gain back the 3 kg that I've lost last week.. xP

Donating Blood

There were some medical officers from the hospital that came to our college earlier today to help out with the blood donation day. Out of curiosity, I dragged another friend that knew nothing of donating blood to the site.

In the end, both of us decided to have a go in donating blood. A bag full of blood was fused out of my body within like 15 minutes? I was scared at first but thinking about it now, it's just a minor pinch and I felt nothing when they drained the blood through my right arm.. My right arm was pretty sore in the afternoon but it went better during the night. Oh and the whole donating blood thing has made me pretty sleepy the whole day.

However, knowing my blood might save a person's life is all that it takes. I should do this often! :)

Sweet! iDiGi Postpaid Plans for iPhone 4! With years sticking to DiGi’s plan since the first day I got a mobile phone, I can still continue using DiGi if I got myself an iPhone or.. when someone give it to me as a gift. xD

What I love about the DiGi iPhone 4 Plans is the iDiGi 138 plan. The other two plans, iDigi 88 and iDigi 238 are super deal too but I tend to get the moderate one since I can’t afford for iDigi 238 plan and truth to be told, 1GB of Internet is definitely not enough for me!

Besides the monthly billing of only RM88 per month, I can get FREE monthly usage of 450 minutes of voice call, 400 SMS, and 40 MMS! DAY 2:

Wowww... This second task is really hard. Asking me to choose one app from hundreds of apps out there for iPhone? My head is spinning as it is... but I do have one particular app in my mind that would be a great helping hand of my study life! It is called iStudiez Pro.

As an undergraduate, this app would be great to aid my crazy lifestyle and unending list of to-do assignments. It is like a note where I can scribble all my schedules, lectures' time and assignments. Imagine it as my external memory. No more white hair frustrating over my own super forgetful memory. No more jumping out of the bed early in the morning, remembering I got lectures for that day. I could track my tasks, assignments, classes and deadlines with just a touch of my fingertip!

A look of the Smart Today view of iStudiez every morning will help me to refresh my memory about the schedule of the day, assignments due, and lectures to attend to along with its time.

As for the Calendar mode, it would help me to keep tracks of holidays and lectures to attend. What I like about the Calendar mode is that it would help me to indicate how many lectures that I need to attend for a certain day by marking it down with dots. 2 dots mean 2 lectures. Oh and a red flag besides the date means I have exam! Exam? Oh, I hate exam!

When you feel that love between couple does not exist in this world, I recommend you to look at this blessed couple. A friend of mine who just turned 23 at the stroke of midnight but people would say she's 15 if you have just met her!

The sweetness between her and her boyfriend is above the hills, sky and sea! Total sweetness and by just being besides them, you could not help but to "tumpang sekaki" on their bliss. Even sugar would be tasteless around them! xD

If you have the chance to meet her, be sure to ask her her love story. You could hear Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' as background song when you listen to it... :P The moral of the story has taught me to never give up. Even a pinch of light is a symbol of hope.

DAY 1:
Oh Gosh! The moment I saw this from Nuffnang, my heart just kept on screaming non-stop on how badly I would want to own this luxulicious babe. No, it's not some hot girls.. It's way and with capital letters, WAY WAY better! King of all phones, the iPhone4! Its engineered glass body, stainless steel band, oh-so-elegant! *scream*

Why would I want to have one? Duh! Who wouldn't! Nowadays, iPhone is all that everyone talks about! Yeah, sure... there's BlackBerry but I fell in love with iPhone! I remembered the first time I held it in my hand. Oh, of course, it's not mine. It belongs to my lecturer. I just got lucky to be able to have a test of how futuristic and mesmerizing it could be!

I want one oh-so badly!!

Its HD video recording and 5 Megapixel camera would be heaven to my interest in photography. I can just snap and take videos anytime, anywhere. No more saying "1,2,3" then the "ka-chak" sound. No more waiting for the photo to load so that I can be sure it is not blurred. iPhone's camera captures memories beautifully even before you could say cheese or "ka-chak"!

Oh oh and for being a Facebook addict, I would not need to worry about being away from it when traveling. I can go wireless or even use Digi's GSM/EDGE to online. And what's more is its 3.5 inch screen that would ease the agony of going online with a small screen like most ordinary phone. Not only that, being a person who is bad at memorizing streets and places, I can also use the map application on iPhone! No more getting lost! WooHoo!

I would immediately go to an Apple outlet if I have the $ to buy one but unfortunately, this mere undergraduate does not possess that much money. *sobs* So, yeah! I would want a Digi iPhone! Pleassseeeeee? with eyes so big and sparkly like Puss in Shrek and puppy-dog-pound please!

Remember about how I would always whine about my research report? Finally! It's done. Signed, sealed, delivered.. lol~ And to add to my happiness is the two weeks holiday! What to do for these two weeks? I think I'm going to be a big sloth; eat, play, sleep and do nothing for the whole week! Yippie! ..NOT.. For this holiday, I got to complete 3 projects and another article for the research.. Oh well, better than none right?

Oh and our allowance is out! Enough to last until the end of the year but not enough for my wishlist: EOS550D! :( Never the less, my hand was itchy and I managed to buy W995 to please my soul for all my hard work for the past 6 months.

I looOOooveee W995! Apart from its sleek design and two-way speaker, it is sOoooo smooth when typing messages or just clicking random buttons! I also love the bass sound for Walkman.. no static sound, loud and clear when playing music. Not to forget its 8.1 megapixel camera with auto focus. The camera is ok but I think Sony could do better. When using 8.1 megapixel, it tends to blur easily. Hence, I have to use 5 megapixel instead of 8.1. However, really.. what do you expect when the price is just RM850.00? Nice right? Well.. IMO, it's nice.. hehe~

Internship Week 1

First week of Internship and I felt like a truckload of paperwork hit me hard. It is almost to the end of the week and my partner and I barely finished with two proposals. Sudden change with the spoke person's schedule sent my driving up and down delivering letters. I'm even faster than the post laju.. lol~

Fortunately, staffs at my current Internship place are all so lovely. Despite their busy schedule, they still spend time to moderate our proposals. I am really thankful that I got such a wonderful place for Internship compared to some of my other course mates. According to them, they had to do many extra works that wasn't supposed to be done.. the one that is not in our Internship outline.

I'm also grateful to have the spoke person volunteering herself to help us with the talk! It is not easy to find an experienced and suitable spoke person given the limited time and budget we have. I owe her a big favor! Thanks, Madam! ♥

With two out of three proposals almost done and waiting for its implementation, the result from all the rush is oh!~ so sweet. Hopefully, I'll just be busy for another week and have the last two weeks to finish up will all three reports.

Hey, life's ain't easy right? Unless I am a princess livin' large in a mansion or something! xP

Back from 4 Months Hiatus...

Dang! I've come to realized that it has been err.. Feb > March > Apr > May.. four months since my last post! In these four months, I did intend to write a few times but it's either I'm too busy or I'm lazy. xP

In a nutshell, these four months had been the busiest period I had ever experienced in my life. Practicum, observation, research proposal, data collecting and exam.. Crazy and hectic period. Phew, glad that all's over.

Yesterday, almost the entire class went to the waterfall trip.

Two words: LOVE IT!

It is nice that we get to relax and enjoy ourselves after all that we had been through this semester. As we seldom meet with each other this semester, this is a great way to strengthen back the bond of friendship among our coursemates.

Great way to kick off the one month holiday too! Happy holiday to all TARians ^^

A Quiet Lunar New Year

It's February! There's Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day! x)

I have been relaxing myself for these few days, doing nothing and stuffing myself with cookies. A pig, I've been and I'm happy as my body finally has its proper rest after struggling hard for the last two weeks. All those rest had brought my jolly spirit back! Begone, pessimism! LoL~

Ah, Chinese New Year! All those yummy cookies' going to appear on my tummy sooner or later.. or on my weighing scale. xP This year, I can conclude that I celebrated CNY "quietly" either at home or at my grandma's place. Since most of my friends are in their final year and many did not come back this holiday, I became piggy at home. >:D

Valentine's Day! Still single.. nah, not unhappy with that condition. Well, maybe cause lots of my friends are still single and I just don't feel the pressure, I guess? Maybe when they start bringing boyfriend during gathering or reunion then would I feel the pressure. xD I guess it can't be rush right? Or maybe it's true after all? About me being super picky? Yikes~

Well, my holiday's out! That's fast!! *sulks* Tomorrow, I'll need to get back to my practicum. I think I'm beginning to get used to 41 + 38 "Dennis The Menace" in the class. Hopefully, I can control their behavior as soon as possible! Jia you~!

Oh and since it's February, anyone else remember another special day beside those that I have mentioned just now? xD

Losing Sight of The Light

It's been 3 days since I started my practicum a.k.a field training. I'm starting to lose the light and dumping myself into the darkness of negative thoughts. The schedules and extra classes on Saturdays. The naughty pupils and how much extra efforts that I would need to give in to make sure that they have the knowledge that they needed. The special case pupils and ways to overcome their difficulties in learning. The Action Research proposal that will due soon..

What if I fail to contribute knowledge into my pupils? What if I fail to find the right subject for my action research? What if I break down mentally and physically? What if I closes my mind and will to continue on? What if I fail myself? What if I fail to get through this?

I am thinking to myself "Maybe I am just afraid. Maybe I don't want to go through this" Man~ I'm becoming pessimist. Oh Merciful God, please guide me through this.

New Sem 2010

Ah~ 2010's finally here and that means back to hitting my head on the book again. Well, after a long holiday, trying to start your rusty brain would take a while. Basically, I went Spring cleaning on Saturday before staying in my new room on Sunday. Can't believe that this is my fourth year.

Anyway, we only got 2 course to complete for this sem. One is action research which is really important as it decides whether we get Hons or just a degree. Another course is Counseling.. whaaa~ counseling. Psychological stuff...

I went to the administration block and was thrilled to see my CGPA. result 3.82! Wooohooo! Now my total accumulated point is over 3.5. At least, that's an achievement. ^_^

The 3 months practicum is coming soon.. Sigh~ and we got to complete an action research to qualify for Hons. double sigh~ I still have no idea on what to research about and getting the topic for the research the sooner, the better! Help!!~

Basically, the first week was pretty laid back.. I think.. ROFL. Talking about afternoon lecture, everyone was not used to it that when the lecture began, almost everyone started "fishing". Even the most gentleman of the class.. XP Oh yeah! We finally have an air-conditioned lecture room! Praise the Lord! ^_^

As always, campus line blocks Facebook.. well.. it tried its hardest to block and most of us were able to penetrate the blocking system easily. LOL~ It tried it hardest to block us and ended up dead on Wednesday... which means we do not have any freaking line! Not even to check our assignment task. Sheesh~ So, I am thinking of whether to apply for broadband.. Freaking line #%&@^#

It's Sunday and hopefully this coming week would be better in terms of Internet line. Aja aja fighting!

Family Trip 2009

Well, suppose to blog this right after I came back from KL but I guess that I am too lazy to. LOL~

Anyway, for this year's family trip, we went to Sabah on November and KL on December. This is the first time I step foot on Sabah and let say the scenery away from its city was really breath taking. We went to Labuan to legally snuck in some alcohol.. Hehe~ Everyone is allowed to bring 1L of alcohol out from Sabah so I chose Chivas of 12 years. Cost me RM75. The 18 years too expensive, RM120+ XD

We also went to Manukan Island for 4 hours which resulted in bad sunburn but all is worth it where I got to swim with and feed the fish! Lotsa rare fish and some rainbow colored one too! I even managed to snorkel! Wanted to try the parachuting activity but nobody wants to accompany me~ *stares at my bro and Jo*

Sabah's really breath taking. We rented a car and went to the foot hill of Mount Kinabalu. So cold and breezy! Would love to stay there! ^_^ We even shopped from the natives there. Super bargain~ hehe~ Oh and we also went to the Memorial Park in Kundasang. Reminded me how many people were killed in the war there and how dreaded must the situation be at that time.

Overall, Sabah is an awesome place to get away from work and all those modern facilities. Just walk around and enjoy its scenery. However, food and parking is wayyyy expensive here. Much more than Kuching and KL. If you are into shopping, then Sabah is not for you. Limited choices really. That's why we went to KL! XP

Ok, on my KL trip chapter, we arrived on 8th and went to Genting on 9th! This time, I didn't manage to go for outdoor theme park since everyone is into the casino. Yikes~ Wasn't interested on its outdoor games anymore cause I guess the maintenance sucks~ Since they changed their management, everything seems less. Most rides are closed and it just not as fun as previously. They even remove the OSIM chair from the cinema! NOooOoo.. The casino's great though. It can be addictive but I just lost my money.. err.. I mean played for fun. Even got I.D checked everytime I went in. The guard thought I'm 17-19 years of age. Whahaha! Made me so happy~ Syok sendiri la~ Hehe!

Back to KL, what else? Shopping time! SOGO, Berjaya Times, Mid Valley, 1 Utama, BB, Sungei Wang.. Reminded me of how I kept plucking my money out from my wallet.. Huhuhu~ We even managed to go to JUSCO Bukit Tinggi at Shah Alam thanks to a friend of bro.

We used MAS Airlines to come home. Luxuries food!! There's Ferrero, fruit cake, guava juice and even Baskin Robbin 31 ice cream for dessert! So heavenly! Hehe~

After finishing three final papers which killed me from one to another, I have completed my sixth semester!!

Oh ya, I have gotten info regarding my next year's practicum venue for 3 months starting from second week of January: SK Garland, Batu Kawa. Love the venue but not too fond of the observers: Dr. Rahmah for Mathematics and Madam Mitty for English. Oh whyyyyy.... =.="

Facebook Addiction Disorder

Looks like I've abandoned my blog for pretty long. Heck~ Not just me. Practically, everyone who is on their third year or final year is doing so. *making excuse* XD

My first final paper is on this coming Wednesday and I haven't start revising for that paper yet and barely finish reading for next week's. I think I lost a screw somewhere.. >_<"

All blame FACEBOOK! *blame self-control!* Last time I checked, Facebook holds over like 120million users? And I'm one of them! and also all of my friends. It's almost 5 times the population of Malaysian! How's that? Not a shocking fact actually..

Recently, I heard a news saying about how a wife got kicked out of the house by the husband who claimed that her wife often wakes up in the midnight to harvest her crops in a Facebook game. This is not unbelievable to me as I've seen these symptoms before somewhere. So, I browsed around to find some information regarding Facebook and I stumbled to a new disorder called Facebook Addiction Disorder.

Oh man.. I think I'm having the symptoms.. I can quit but my Happy Farm! My Friends for Sale! *got dragged away*

After rejuvination for a whole week, lectures start again..

Walao eh... This week has been a hectic week for me. I only had 4 hours average of sleep everyday. Slept at 3:00am then woke up around 7:00am in a startled condition, fearing I might be late for my 7:30am lecture. Sometimes, I had to kept my eyes wide awake starting from the first lecture. Sometimes, my energy lasted til the 11:00am lectures where I started yawning really hard and gave my lecture the dull look on her presentation (mind that I sit in front of the class; sitting straight and absorbing all the presentations in that state of mind was not easy for me).

Funniest thing happened on Tuesday or was it Wednesday? It was the 11:00am lecture and Dr. Rahmah came in for her lecture as usual. 30 minutes after, I started yawning and gave her the dull look AGAIN.. Then, she started to comment about pyschological interpretation that she knows who is paying attention and who's not. I thought I was getting the hint from her that I'm not paying attention (and it's already not easy for me to stay focus). When I turned around, I saw most of my coursemates were yawning and having teary eyes due to the yawning.. I guess that hint goes to everyone, not just me.. Imagine the whole class yawning..

Hopefully, next week would be the last week for assignments to torture me and the rest of my coursemates as all projects, assignments and reports are to due next week. Will rejunivate during this weekend and rush some of the assignments to evade burning midnight oil again.. Cause last night, I caused my roomie to move to another room to sleep just because I was awake with me group members finishing on an assignment. Gomen, Christine.. You can torture me by playing the piano loudly for the next two weeks... ^_^"

Oh.. relaxation started this afternoon actually where we massively went to Sya's house for lunch in celebration for Raya. Everyone.. wait.. well most of us were there just to take that one-day-away-from-assignment moments. Lovely lunch indeed. :)

Tomorrow, it's the Mooncake Festival. Going for steamboat with my coursemates. I don't like the eating part but I just can't miss the excitement waiting for me then. I'm that type of person who will try not to miss any exciting events with friends.. LOL..

Arggghhh!! When can I reduce my weight then? I'm so going on rice and meat strike after this! X3 but craving for mocha with caramel at the moment! I want to go to Bing! Coffee... XD

A big bang happened in the house! Calm down guys.. It's not a bomb. It's my mom's 13 years old dining table letting go of its last breath.. That gigantice dining table finally takes its last toll and broke down. Mom and I had to un-attach its parts to make it easier to get rid of it.

It happened when we were doing house cleaning from top to bottom.. Sigh, looks like we need to go hunting for a new one.

Second Phase Practicum

This morning was my last day of practicum. Half of me was like "Whaa.. can't wait for the time to scram" and the other half was going "Going to miss here.. Thiam, going back to 7am-4pm schedule of lectures again.."

My second phase practicum was completed in SK Tambay, a very small school with average of 15 to 22 pupils in a class. It's a pretty laid back school where all the teachers are very friendly and warm as well as the staff there ranging from the cooks, clerks, security guards and cleaner. My session with the pupils was around 5 hours a week excluding all the other teach-ins that I might have to take. I taught Year 4 Mathematics and Phys. Ed.

So, this morning was my last day. I bought some gifts to 17 'Denise the Menace' in my class. Well, not all are menace but most of them are. =_=" I had my last lesson before the recess and after the recess, we had a short assembly. After the short assembly, I was planning to pack my stuff and getting myself ready to go back when the class monitor of Year 4 pulled me to the class, claiming that they were crying in the class. Indeed they were...

Being a very cold-hearted teacher.. acclaimed my practicum partner for me not crying when I saw them cry, I just felt weird thinking the whole time, I kept on lecturing them on finishing their homework and punishing them whenever they make noise and being naughty during my lesson. So how in hell would they miss me??

It was like 16 broken pipes in the class! Even the naughiest boy whom I punished almost every lesson. Gosh~ I had to retain myself for quite a while just to comfort all of them and when I started waving goodbye to them, they all cried back!!

In the end, a teacher asked me to ignore them and walk away or else I could not leave the class. I did that and after packing my stuff and bringing it all to my car, there they were! All 17! Crying on my car! Aiyoyo~ Some of the girls even pull my clothes asking me not to go.. but what can be done? Every journey has its end.

Anyhow, feeling pretty tired atm. Symptoms of flu are appearing.. and holiday's around the corner. Going to zz soon so logging off..

Wake Up People!

OMG! The weather these days are so so so hot! I felt like bringing an air-cond everywhere I go but I can't do that. I taught Physical Education and some of my students barely can stand the weather. It's hazy, hot and humid. I even bathed like 4 to 5 times a day than the frequent 3. =_="

What bugs me is that the villagers along the Kota Samarahan and Asajaya district (I'm not sure whether it's a district or not) kept on burning their fields despite the hot weather. It's making the air so polluted and hazy. Ashes sticking on the car and clothes too.

Last Friday on my way back to Kuching, a forest was burnt down and fire fighters had to go and put the fire out using water from the drain cause there are no fire hydrant nearby. The fire was pretty big and near the main road. Hope that after this, they learn not to burn their fields recklessly.

El Nino is coming indeed. I saw today's newspaper and there's a typhoon heading to Borneo! Gosh~ No wonder there was not even a single rain for the past two months. The rivers in rural areas are beginning to dry up.

All I can say is that this is not the work of God or Mother Nature but man alone. Human did this to Earth and we are paying for it. This means every single two legged mammals that are reading this and even me when are typing it down. I guess we got to realize how big one single person can affect the world. No more of the excuse of "I am just one human, what can I do".

So, guys! Please save Earth anyhow you can. Recycle, car pooling, whatever it takes that can contribute even the least.

Moving

The four of us officially moved in a rental house which is about ten to fifteen minutes drive from the school I'm having my practical in.

We moved on Tuesday afternoon. Some of us, including me being the 'clean-addict', we started cleaning the place up. Sweeping, wiping, mopping, washing, brushing, arranging, throwing out the rubbish and etc. A housemate works on the kitchen while for me, the toilet and the bathroom. =_=

By the time we finished cleaning everywhere, it's about 8pm! And gosh, we haven't started out daily lesson plan yet. Luckily managed to finish it and got a few hours of beauty sleep before going to school the next day. The funny thing was I was so sleepy that my lesson plan got so many typo error. XP

This week was a pretty busy week. The house is a nice place to live in although it's a bit rundown. What's killing my back is the bed. Need to buy a better mattress or I'll be like an old lady by the time I finish my practicum.

Oh ya, do you know where do the villagers throw their rubbish everyday? We were quite curious on how to manage our rubbish as there were no rubbish bin in sight. So, we went on to ask a villager living nearby. According to the makcik, the rubbish truck only comes twice a week that is on Tuesday and Saturday. Hence, they throw their rubbish into the river. I was like THE RIVER???!!! Gosh~ I can't do that. The river is God's creation. Making it dirty means that I'm ruining His creation. Furthermore, the river is so beautiful.

Lastly, we ended up putting our rubbish outside the house to avoid attracting ants. Guess what? Next morning, it was gone. Now thinking of it, someone must had helped us throw it into the river.. NoOoooOoo...

Incident #1

Actually found a place to stay for the 2 months practicum. When we decided to go and clean the place up, we realized that we can't park our cars there due to the extremely small bridge. So, if we want to live there, have to park at roadside which is super dangerous with the chances of:

i. Big lorry hitting our cars anyday of that two months

ii. Probability that we would accidentally drive our cars into the big longkang near the house

Another option is to park our car near the shops. Bad idea according to locals as there are many bandits lurking around the area.

So, bo pien.. Paiseh, paiseh have to decline the kopitiam lady's kindness in helping us to find a place to stay. Now, we have to drive up and down 1 hour plus from campus to our practical place. Jia you, Amy for taking the role to drive~ Hopefully, I can help her by turn-taking...

Incident #2

In my attempt to search for a new place to stay cause I want to avoid from being overtired from the long drive everyday, my practicum partner and I were almost being bitten by a furious, angry looking dog. I could still remember the adrenalin rush of standing just a few feet away from the dog who was ready to attack me any moment before its owner managed to save me.

After whole day talking to the locals there, still no luck finding a place to rent. Long hours of driving, here I come.. xS

Incident #3

Practicum + 40% of semester's credit project + fatigue from everyday trip to practicum place + lonely campus = me making this face (=_=") and also developing pessimistic thoughts.. Pray for me...

Allowance's not out yet... *pockets fill with dry leaves*

Car buat hal.. She's sick and asking money for me to heal her. Luckily, it cost me no above than RM500. If not, I'll be eating dirt until my allowance's out...

Time does fly, doesn’t it? My three weeks holiday has come to an end. In a while later, got to go back to campus and prepare for the new semester starting tomorrow and... I am so not looking forward to getting the new schedule as I know it is going to be super packed. Like 7:30am to 4:00pm packed. +.=

My three weeks holiday as short quoted can be defined as unproductive, I guess. Been a sloth at home, going online almost every single day of the holiday but heck, this is the only time that I can be that lazy before stepping back into the hectic life of assignments, practicum, projects and campus activities.

I managed to meet few friends yesterday. YEAH!! A little gathering of ours just to catch up with what is going on with everyone and have a laugh from crappy to insightful topics. This is the thing that I love the most during holiday is to be able to hang out with them.

Being a Greenian has been one of the wisest decision made by me. In this school, I get to meet a bunch of great people which I am honoured and grateful to call them as friends. All of my sweet, funny and memorable memories revolve around them.

Every time when I hang out with them, I get to relax and be myself... and I just love that feeling. So, whenever I have holidays, I would try my best to meet up with them. I guess they give me energy to continue on the winding road of life. That moment with them... I forget every worry and let down the bag of stress on my shoulder.

In college, I do enjoy the companion of my college mates but that feeling is incomparable to this genuine feeling that I get from these Greenians. This is a mystery that I could not figure out why...

BLESSED and GRATEFUL. These two words are the words that I can describe. I don’t know what my life would be if I have not be given the chance to know them. They are just the best of friends that one can have in life.

Thanks a million for being my friend. You guys know who you are. ^^ This is a friendship that I will cherish always and forever, even to the grave. XP

Stop. Take a Look. Think.

I let you guess. Is this sunrise or sunset?

Pretty right? Ok.. Actually, it's much more beautiful in real life than the picture. And it is sunrise... What I am trying to say here is that "Stop. Take a look. Think". We move too fast and rush over things in life.

Sometimes, we think that what we are doing is right or wrong. Is this my road or just a road I'm walking on? Is this road leading me to a good life? I guess most of us worry too much about "me" and missed out on the beauty of nature itself. Its effects are just breath taking.

God created nature for us to enjoy, for us to appreciate. Take a stroll on the beach and let His magnificent work sweeps you away. While you're doing that, think not of yourself but of how beautiful life can be. Frustration, stress.. all will just puffed away!

I spent the last day of my vacation to the beach sitting down on a swing under a tree, looking at the sunrise. I guess that moment is the time that I stopped thinking of myself and of all that I am worried about and just relax, have my breakfast under the tree with such magnificent view.

Spend a day or two away from all your work, your city life and away from all the things you should be worrying about. There's more to life than our career, our study life.

Final Day of Practicum I

Yestarday was my last day of the four-weeks practicum. My 45 Year 5 students had touched my heart deeply. I went for the last hour of Mathematics class with them around 11:00am yesterday. As I opened the door, the room was dark and all I could see was empty tables and three lines of students at the back and a conductor. As I entered the class, they started to sing Auld Lang Syne in Bahasa version. My eyes were filling with tears but I managed not to drop one. I gave them a big applause after they had finished singing and joked about them trying to make me cry.

I continued teaching them Mathematics and on the last ten minutes, I gave them presents that I had prepared and managed to take photos with them. And by the time my lesson was up, my table was filled with presents. All of them approached me, asking for signature and phone number. I was thinking, I'm not a celebrity. I'm just a teacher. Yet, they're acting like I am one.

It was really difficult to leave that day. This devilish yet cute bunch of munchies had really put an impact on me in just a short period of time. I'm really gonna miss them. :(

And All Hell Broke Loose...

Earlier this morning, I had an hour session with my Year 5 students. Mathematics class.

I guess the one thing I did wrong.. very wrong is to teach-in their class the previous hour before my class.

It was a bit of a relaxation Mathematics session with some quizzes. When I start my lesson, all hell broke loose. My students seemed to be really hyped up and restless.

Time slowly passes by and they are getting more noisy. Slowly, I start to lose grip of controlling them.

And to make matter worse, my lecturer came in to observe unexpectedly!!

"Die! Die! Die!" are the only thing that goes through my mind at that moment.

The class noise level was getting worse every single minutes and at its peak when it was group work activity.

When my lecturer decided to leave early, I know my observation result would be disasterous!

And it did...

His note to me was:

I left early because I cannot stand the noise by your students. You lost grip of class control today and worse, some students are screaming when doing group activity. You better find a alternative way to control your student before my nect observation this Wednesday...

And I lost my voice.. Oh, man. I feel like jumping from Taipei 101 right now.. =_=

Practical Week 2

This is my second week of practical but it's also my first official week to teach some classes. Well, two classes to be exact.

On the first week, I was given a schedule of my classes. Seven periods of Mathematics classes with Year 5A and three periods of Physical Education with Year 2D. Before that, a brief explanation on the class grouping system in this school; there are five classes in each Year, ranging from A to D for Bahasa medium and one class for Chinese Medium. Class A being the best to Class D that consists of remedial students.

My first day with 45 of my Year 5 students was like "teaching to the walls". I guess this is because I'm still new to them and well.. let just say their devilish side have not unveil themselves. After few more days, I have accidentally found the key and unlocked heir devilish side. They were pretty naughty but n a good way. At least they listen to me when I'm teaching and I am impressed by how good they are and how fast they can catch up with my lesson.

My first day with my Year 2 students on the other hand was a disaster! Controlling 35 students was a pain in the neck for me. Throughout the hour, I was shouting non-stop and nearly broke my voice box. And to top it up, my lecturer was supposed to observe me during my Mathematics class the hour right after. My mentor had to help me to control them to avoid any casualites. =.="

When I went to the staff room, most of the teachers was laughing at me as my shouting was so loud, some of them heard me all the way from the staff room. Gosh~ I should have taken it more seriously when they said that class is hard to control.

Now that the week had ended, I look forward to a day of relaxation before starting the new week. I need to get a hold of how to control my Year 2 students before they break my voice box permanently. xP

A Weird Moment

Okay.. There's this really funny thing that happened few days ago; Wednesday to be exact when a few of my coursemates and I decided to collect data for our coursework regarding Network Analysis.

Our coursework needs us to stand on a four intersections road and count cars. Yes, you're reading this correctly. COUNT CARS.. Count, analyze and redesign the road to improve the flow. Something like that. xP

So, four of us met in the morning around 9:30am or so cause it is not a peak hour where you'll get traffic jam. Hence, it'll be easier for us to count cars passing by. We are working smart here. LOL!

When we reached there, we chose a junction each. The trick is to choose an input (where the cars come from; specific junction) and from that input, we need to count the possible output (cars entering) via the three junctions.

Ah~ Malaysians; you know how they are. When there's an accident, they'll slow down and take a look of what is happening. So, this event where four ladies are standing near the road taking cameras, camcoders and stuff, apalagi? Sure slows down and takes a good stare at you and your actions. xS

Few funny moments were when we attempted to take pictures and videos of our presence there as proof that we are not cheating or making up those data, some even slowed down or showed the peace sign. =.= See how friendly Malaysians are? Hahaha.. But I don't think these actions are counted as being friendly. One even stepped on his emergency brake near me when I was about to snap a picture. Scaryy...

All those while, standing near the road, I guess I received stares from many people which for sure, I won't receive those much in a month. So paiseh...

The lecturer better be accepting our data. I don't wanna stand near roadside anymore!!

Sidenote: I was thinking, if one of us wore super sexy clothes that day, wouldn't there be any possibility of an accident happening? xP

Finally! Horrorful day finally be gone!

One month of working on the coursework project again and again and again and again.

We generated around 4, 5, 6? teaching materials just to teach one simple topic: Improper Fractions for Year 5. If you refers to the Year 5 Mathematics book, this topic only have a page worth of exercise. And to think that becoming a teacher is easy? Think again!

Me and my partner spent sleepless nights within this one month doing the projects. Generating ideas and getting few rejections from the Head of Mathematics Department over and over again. She really has high expectation on the coursework and to meet her expectation, we got to deal with the pressure and also some uban that starts to pop up more and more within our hair.

The last few hours before submitting the project, we finalize the paperworks and ended up sleeping around 4am. That morning's lecture started at 7:30am! Luckily, I didn't fish in the Miss Tan's lecture. If not, sure get killed by her. xP

Gosh~ gotta stop sleeping so late. I'm becoming a panda myself. Positive side though, I lost 2kg from all the pressure of the coursework. LOL. I know, it's bad for health. Bad, bad for health. Will try to get proper rest within this one week break.

After the one week break, I'll be starting my Practicum or similar to Industrial Training for 4 weeks. Warggghh.. I do hope I'll be able to handle all the students. I'm scared that I might end up strangling one. Muahaha. Just kidding. I won't do that. I'll lose my degree for it.

Pray for me guys! I'm starting to lose me-self. (x.x)

Birthday Reload

To all the DiGi users out there, I'm sure you know the birthday bonus right? Well, since it's 50% top-up for every top-up that you have made between 3 days before and after your birthday, what else? I just reload RM100 and my collagemates grabbed this opportunity as well by asking me to reload for them and transferring all the credits. X) Haha.. Anyway, since I'm super loaded with credit now, I just messaged Kim in Aus the whole night since my streamyx was broken. *shrungs*

We talked bout lots of stuff including the appearance of perverts in Aus. Weird~ hahaha.. I'm pretty sure that Malaysia does not have perverts and even if there is, it would not be as weird and creepy as those in Aus desribed by Kim.. So, be careful Kim!

Ah~ Monday's a public holiday. Feeling free at the moment. I'm going to spend the whole Saturday doing nothing that needs my mind to think. No assignments and no typing.. erm.. wait, I'm typing alright. I mean no stress for today. I need to get my mind away from all that just for today and by tomorrow, I'll be back to courseworks, projects, and assignments that mostly due next Friday. :S

21 With Me Best Friend!

ABOUT 23rd February....

I know, I know. This is about a week late. Should have posted it last week but I didn't. I was too butt lazy to edit all the copyrights for the pictures taken. Hahaha. Well, moments before turning 21 was, I may add SWELL!! Before I start with the details, I wanna make some intro intro on this one great person that share same birthday with me since 20 years ago.

He is a person whom I had cat and dog fight with since I was small. Although I seldom see him when growing up; with all the schedule of him and me being taken care of either my grandmama or mom since we were small, I really look up to him. He's a great guy and I know he loves me a lot even though he always wanna pick a fight with me when we were small, if I'm not mistaken.. xP

As we got older, he shared some responsibility with mom to take care of me. For example, sending me to school and tuition as well as picking me up and sending me to everywhere I want to go. I know, I know. Seems like my driver. Haha. What to do? No extra car. Even now, he still picks me up and send me to my college every week. It's so far off from his destination and still, he is patient enough to tolerate with my schedule.

He also tolerates with me in term of my occasional bad temper. Blame that I'm a dragon year baby. Muahaha.. Anyway, since these past few years, we got to bond along better as we are older. I know that I have this bad temper, but occasional one, not constant one.. He always show this patient voice and let me be done with my temper before he are able to talk with me again. So kesian, he become my lending ears besides my mom and some of my friends. Well, he won't have the chance once I find one perfect guy to replace his current position. Hehehe..

And what's more. He's caring too. Looking out for mom and me during travelling. Putting our needs first before rest. For example, he'll make sure that we have enough nutrients to walk around shopping. Very patient about shopping part. He'll just wait til we are finish with the shopping instead of rushing us.

So, this guy is none other than my brother, Andy who is exactly 6 years older than me. HAPPY 27th BIRTHDAY, ko! So nice ho.. get a birthday cake from Jo (FYI: Jo is his gf).

Ok, back to my best friend who shares the same birthday with me but I'm older by few hours. We're born in Sarawak General Hospital. Must be I've heard her cry too at that day but I'm too young to remember. Hack.. Hahaha.. This pretty girl is none other than Kimber!

So, Sunday afternoon, 22nd February 2009. A day before our birthday. I can't celebrate the actual day with her as I will be celebrating it with tons of assignments in my room back in college. xP I picked Kim up at her place around 2pm. First, we were thinking of celebrating at Mango Tree but it's closed on Sunday. Darn~ Then, we twirled and twirled around Kuching looking for good place to eat where several minutes and minutes later, we ended up at Crown Square only to try the Indonesian food at Pulau Lagenda.

We ordered many foods which is far more of two stomachs can fill; grilled chicken ala Pulau Lagenda, tempe; king prawn and bora bora (I think I got the name correct..). The drinks that we ordered were great too! So, the story here is that we ate and ate. Halfway eating, the waiter sent us the bill and we're quite shocked. Not because of the amount of the bill but they said that they're closing. What the? Didn't expect that they close so fast at 3pm. Hahaha. I guess that was the first time I was asked, very very politely to eat faster and send myself out of the restaurant... WAIT! Not my first. The first time was at McD with Josiah, Manda and Yueh Lee. Hahaha.. Anyway, great meal stuffing our tummy before we turn 21! And it is just lovely to celebrate it with my bro and also my best friend!

3. Kim got me this super creative 21 things in a bag for my lovely 21st birthday

5. Someone (not a Chinese) gave me a musical turning clock. All my Chinese coursemates bursted out in tears when they heard it.

This week, instead of 5-days of lecture, we had 6. Kind of sucks since one particular lecturer added her hours from 4 hours to 6 hours per week, then always take our lunch break time by adding half hour of 45 minutes more. Even one of my coursemates had this statistics on how his time was taken up per week in total.

It's tiring physically, mentally and spiritually for all of us. It's not like I'm complaining. I understand that her high expectation for us will bring us great benefit someday but the courseworks load that crashes between all the lecturers are beating us down. Sometimes, it is necessary to let us take a break from the pressure or we will tatally crack up. S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y. Practically, you can hear the class whine about exhaustion and bringing the super moody face to lectures.

After today's lecture, I went out for lunch. There's this sight which aches my heart. Salesman. It is hard to see them going around, pleading for people to buy the products so they could mantain their job. The economics downfall has really taken a big toll on many people. Many people are jobless out there and some barely could support their live by their current salary. Even graduates that hold a degree certificate on hand would have to face the fact that degree means nothing nowadays as it is not easy to score a good job at hand.

In my mind, I thought of how nice would the world be if those who are rich are willing to donate to the poor but the true fact is that life is cruel. Mom told me once that in this type of situation, as much that we do hope that we could help them (e.g: buying their products so that they could meet the quota to keep their jobs), there is a limit on how much we can help. Unless like I'm super rich, there's nothing much that can be done except to pray for them. Place faith in God as the road is not a smooth highway.

Life is a challenge but remember this when you feels like losing your way and faith:

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Psalm 56:4

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28

Chap Goh Mei 2009

This year Chap Goh Mei falls on Monday. The girls decided to have it earlier, on Saturday night at the apartment. 9 girls and a guy. Steamboat and Western style foods such as fried chicken, wedges, french fries, chicken fingers and so on. Mouth watering isn't it? And by the end, we can't finish what we had prepared. Next time, need to estimate how big eaters are we.. LOL! I'm so stuffed right now and I need to lose some flabs here! Chinese New Year flabs are still there. Guess I need to attend Dr. Chin's class for the 1.2km run again. XD

Family CNY Dinner 2009

Well, I am sure that most Chinese family have their CNY Eve's dinner with family members. This certainly includes ours. Chinese New Year Eve for 2009 fell on Sunday. This year, I can see that Grandma was pretty happy because most of her children's family were there for the CNY Eve's dinner. Not only her, I was pretty excited as well. It has been a long time since I last met up with my cousins. All of them had really grown up especially Kelvin. Man, last year he was shorter than me and yesterday during the dinner, he's almost overtaking my brother's height. And he's only like what.. 17? Gosh! There goes another one taller than me. =.=" Ah~ and most of them are in a relationship now. Double sweat. Luckily, none of my aunties or uncles asked me about my relationship. Thanks God!

As we were waiting for all to gather at Grandma's house, my mom stumbled upon an article about the so-called Chinese Horoscope for those who are born in 1988, year of the Earth Dragon. Well, she teased me "Oh, this year Dragons will have a blossom in relationship." When she uttered those words, immediately, I can recognize that she was teasing me. "Cold joke for the start of lunar year, mom." Actually, I did some thinking about this matter not too long ago but I guess since most of my secondary school friends are still single, I just don't feel the pressure of getting one right now? And don't even give me the suggestion to find one in my college. We are considered the pioneer batch of our course so we only have juniors and although some of my juniors can be H.O.T, I am not too keen about dating a younger guy. No offence on younger guys who are reading this. XD

The dinner was swell! Dishes included were fish (nian nian yiu yu), prawn (hee hee ha ha), braised duck, steamed chicken, mixed vegetables and I can't remember the rest but I do remember how yummy and tasty Grandma's cooking is! Oh ya, her curry is a legend for its spicy-ness and the tender tasting chicken. Haha! Too bad I did not bring my T-series with me that day. If not, you guys might drool reading this post with the pictures included.

Apart from that, I just love the small talk and miggling around, catching up with current news from the others. I do believe that we need to mantain good communication to mantain good relationship not only with family but with friends as well. That's the reason why I like to bother you guys about gathering the moment you guys landed in Kuching. LOL!

I can't wait for next year's as then, every children of Grandma's will be here in Kuching. Well, Uncle Richard did mention of coming back for 2010's CNY. Maybe Aunt Lucy will tag along too? Fingers cross.

Seeing this picture, I think you can guess where is this hotel right? I'll give you a clue if you are really clueless. Check out the Largest Hotel in The World with 6,118 rooms. Well, my family and I went there last December. The check-in time is 3pm onwards and we arrived at the lobby around 2pm. When we went to pick our Q-system number, it has come to a shock!

Your number is 0824.
Now serving number of 0408.

Whoa! A jolt in disbelief. I think this is the only place in Malaysia where you’ll get your number to be this large? The gap between our Q-number and serving number is 416! Haha! What else can we do but to wait, enduring the boredom and agony that put our patience to the test. When my watch ticks 3pm, the number was about 1/3 of its way. Bored, I looked around me. The lobby was full of tourists and locals sitting here and there. Yes, if you can secure a good seat on the floor near one of the walls, it is good enough. You better believe it because the place was jammed packed with guests from all around the world waiting to be served and check-in.

We managed to secure seats on the bench provided. The only entertainment for guests who wait at the lobby was Discovery Channel with no sounds and Malay subtitle. Yeah, luckily I am a Malaysian. Hahaha~ If you can’t endure the long hours of the queue, just walk around and enjoy the exquisite scenery of the hotel or shop-till-your-hours-are-up.

Around 5pm, our number’s up. Gosh! Three hours! It was faster than what I have expected actually. Seriously! I thought that it might have to take us till the night to get into our room. Ah~ Room sweet room. With its natural air-conditioner, the room was chilly. Even colder than my fridge back at home. Hahaha~ But that is what I love about Genting. The cold weather and all its thrilling rides.

After dinner, we walked around and uh, there’s a cinema in here! Never notice it before. Haha, such a sakai. xP So, we pampered ourselves with OSIM-row tickets to The Day The Earth Stood Still at 1:30am. It was not expensive at all compared to the ordinary seats. Should try it. A whole movie-length of nice full body massage. Good way to relax and loosen up those stiff muscles after few days of walking and shopping.

next morning, it is time to fulfil my reason. I came with one simple reason. To conquer all its thrill rides. Since last year’s trip was a bit disappointing since it rained and I did not manage to play all, this year’s weather is siding on me. The only way to try all the rides in a limited time of 8am to 10pm, is Genting’s Express Pass. (Evil laugh) Although it is a bit more expensive than the ordinary all-day pass, I guarantee you that it is really worth it especially for first-time visitors. Ah~ The joy of cutting queues... Joking. Truthfully, I really do not savor the taste but if you compare it with the long hours of multiple queuing, it is definitely worth it. There are only certain rides that inclusive of the Express Pass. Others that are not included are such as Kart Prix and Bumper Boat. So, for these two, we did our part: Queuing. =.=

At the end of the day, I managed to ride all the thrill rides. All except for one, Flying Coaster. Still need time to gather up my gut to experience that hand-gliding roller coaster of 4. Although it is a thrill ride, the queue line to this ride was peculiarly short. Guess many were like me; courageous enough for other thrill rides except for this one. Seeing it roars the sky scared the hell out of me. Hopefully, one day I will manage to conquer it as well. Well, Genting was so much fun; I’ll say that it was a great way to end 2008!

Have you watched this movie?

This Japanese movie was released around 2007. Well, rumor said that it touched the heart of more than 20 million viewers deeply. What else? I bought the DVD recently (saw it on a rack of a store) and watched it. Seriously, this is a nice and touching story. A super tear jerker. Recommended especially for those who have yet not watch it. Make sure to have a box of tissue nearby. ^_^

Review:

This is a story of two young high schoolers, Mika and Hiro who started a relationship through communication by cell phones over the summer vacation. The story continues on by telling how those two strives through love, hardship, lost, perseverence and challenge that comes between them.

Multicolours

Life's a multicolour. Some might think that the colours of your life depend on your own luck but others might say effort is the key on determining the colours of your life. Life can be simple and also the other way around. Everyone have different opinion about how life should be. If a person desires total comfort his entire life, the way of ‘work’ will determine how comfortable life can be.

How can we define the perfect life one could have? Living large, indefinably rich, wise and knowledgeable, laid-back with no worries or all-round ‘everyone-loves-me’ person?

In my opinion, there are a few colours in life that one ought to have to be truly happy in their life:

The colour of a warm family
The colour of beautiful friendship
The colour of being true in living
The colour of gratitude
The colour of authentic efforts

We are human. We are born with the instinct to be successful. We seek the most comfortable life and we desire a perfect life. However in this world, only a minor will get their full package of desired life to have. Others might gain some of it and there are those with none. Some gain it at the beginning of their life and others work their way to it; work hard or work smart.

There are times that things do not always go as the way we wanted to. There might be challenges in between and behind some dreadful moments, there might be a bliss expected to be found. Often, we encounter incidents such as arguments, mistakes and false acquisition. Just remember a few tips; it might not be effective but it might just work to make life whole lot easier.

Arguments:
When entangled in an argument, it is important to cool down before explanation. The hotter both tempers are, the harder it is to entangle the situation.

Mistakes:
Remember that as we are humans, we do make mistakes. We are not robot. The important thing is that when making a mistake; examine and learn from the mistake.

False Acquisition:
This is where someone is framing you for the thing that you might have not done or stating how wrong it is for you to think that it is right. A person told me a way to settle is to ignore. Ignore any provocation and act of displease from others. The heat will calm itself. I tried this before and pleased to say that it works. Better than to defend myself and waste saliva.

Anyway, I'm in my second week of exam or should I say last week. It feels so good to be halfway done. Last week's papers are killer.

First exam, Technology. The questions were kind of out of what we had learnt the past half year. Questions like differentiate SLR and TLR, ISO100 and ISO400, Aperture 2.8 and 3.2 came out. What the?? Mostly about camera's functions. Should have concentrated on that. Though so, I'm pretty sure there's chance to score A in it. Luckily I remembered the discussion the night before the exam. =.="

Second exam, Teaching and Planning in Mathematics. Common sense paper and some factual like Gardner's Theory, Piaget's Cognitive Theory, Learning Styles and so on. Lots of notes (The notes compiled together is like 8cm thick? Thank God for the notes!) Hopefully can score higher by babbling lots in the paper. Non-stop writing for 2 and 1/2 hours for this one. XD

Third exam is the one which I would like to describe, as everyone had described after taking it as LONG PIAK (hokkien) paper. Really feels like knocking yourself against the wall after taking this paper. Oh ya, the paper is Calculus. Lots of formula, lots of twisted words to make you confuse and I did not read the optional question for the essay! That cost me ten precious marks. Sigh.. Please please at least I can pass this paper. +_+

Fourth is Integration of Arts in Education. Internal paper, so no need to say anything..

Four papers down and two more to go.

Next paper is on Monday (Curriculum and Pedagogy of Phys Ed) and the last one is on Wednesday (Principles of ELS). And I'm here blogging? Have I lost my mind? Guess it's soon...

10 Camping Tips

Here are some camping tips that most think is not that important and might forget. My friends and I have some useful tips here:

Always and always pack your stuff in plastic bags so that your stuff are water-proff.
A friend of mine packs her clothes in plastic bags according to days. One plastic bag of clothes for a day. Useful, I might say.
Bring first aid kit. This is a MUST!
When building your tent, make sure to dig small drain around your tent for divert-off in case of heavy downpur.
Build a flying sheet to avoid heavy downpour and moisture.
Avoid using fragrant or scented personal products. Bugs are attracted to it.
Wear light colored long sleeve shirts and pants. Never wear black especially at night if you do not want to have bug bitting you.
Try to bath before sleeeping or at least keep yourself cool. Bugs are attracted to sweat.
Keep your tent zipped at all times to stop bugs getting in.
Pack up food and scraps at night — they attract unwelcome guests like possums and insects.

Camped Out!

A glance of the recent camping for IPGs from all over Sarawak at IP Rajang, Bintangor. This 4 days and 3 nights camp has exorted all my energy out; physically, mentally, and socially too.. :S

Briefly, the camp is all about Scout, Red Crescent and TKRS. All together, there's 235 participants if I'm not mistaken. We arrived there around 3pm on the first day. Located our camping ground and start to build up the tents for the night.

After we have finished, it's time to get back to the camping ground. Heavy downpour suddenly hit us. "Man, I have a bad feeling about this", popped out in my mind. When we got back...

We saw the open-air hall was full with bags and luggages

Seemed like the heavy rain has hit our camping ground hard. Most evacuated their belongings. The Scout team has been really helpful. They helped to evacuate our stuff to the hall and when we saw them, they were like dripping wet and their uniform was all wet as well.

Scouts were getting their dinner ready. They just never stop working...

Our facilitator commented us the next morning, "Semalam saya lihat kamu semua tidur berhimpit-himpit. 100 lebih tidur macam udang kering, bengkok sini sana. Mana tak, sejuk dari khemah kerana dewan itu open-air. Malam ini, semua wajib tidur dalam khemah; basah ke tak. Oh swell...

Third day: B.O.M (Bantuan Operasi Menyelamat)

B.O.M was our last formal activity in the schedule for the entire camping week. B.O.M is a situation where we will set up a team of Disaster Force Team in an area where a disaster happened. There will be sections such as Registration of patients, Survey team, Mass Feeding team, Search and Rescue team, Logistic team, Public Communication team, and not least the First Aid team which will be under the orders of main Operation Room. We had fun during B.O.M. Challenging as given situation differs from head-cracking situation to silly ones such as an old lady called Red Crescent Disaster Task Force to allocate her cat. -_-". I learned a lot about Disaster Management during that activity.

The fourth day has arrived, FINALLY! Everyone was rejoiced to go home.. Well, back to campus at least. Back to that comfty bed, back to alone time and back to technology. We bid farewell to some old friends and new ones. Headed back to college and it took us around 5 hours. That's quick.

Odd to say for a person like me who deeply loves camping out, this is the worst camping I had gone through. The activity is not challenging at all and there's like major conflicts here and there; internally and also among IPGs. I guess this camping has brought out everyone's true color. Sad to say, even myself. Some of the time, I really felt like strangling some people for being so insensitive with others. Argh.. can't wait for graduation where I can be away from most of those hypocrites! I guess I might only miss my coursemates. Should have chosen Scout instead of Red Crescent where most of my coursemates are...

Well, looking at the positive side, at least I managed to meet some of my friends from other IPs. There's Lee Sin, Chai, Hui Lan and Shan Ling from my field-based experience team; Lo, my three-in-a-row camping friend; some of my netball rivals and new friends as well.

PAYING IT FORWARD

Today I've learned something, something so obvious, so precious yet many have not discovered. Paying It Forward.

'Pay It Forward' is actually a novel written by author, Catherine Ryan Hyde and others to help in inspiring students that it is possible to help change the world. The story is about a 12-year-old boy named Trevor McKinney that believed in the goodness of human nature. He was determined to change the world for the better thus creating the concept of paying it forward. Help one who will help another. A chain of good deed that comes from even a small favor.

Let's say that a stranger or a friend comes up to you and helps you, even in a small way of helping to carry your stuff or guiding you through your assignments. Paying it forward means the act of helping another when someone helps you even in the simpliest way. An act where you repays their kindness by helping others who are in need. Help others but expect nothing out of them. Touch their heart and change their opinion of the world by your unobtrusive acts of kindness.

Imagine that you helped three person. Say this to them: "Repay my kindness by helping another three person that needs your help. Pay it forward." When that three person helped another three each, we are actually spreading the positive way of making the world a better place to live in. Sooner or later, the chain spreads through. This will goes on and on. See? Even a simple deed can help a lot in any way.

Practicing this concept will make people to be alert about those in need and those who helped them, who spread kindness to them. Nowadays, it is risky to help strangers but let your own good intentions guide you on your actions. Let this concept shapes people to become more grateful even for the smallest act of kindness from others.

Many do not know how much that their help would benefit this world. Help others who are in need and guide them to help others. Learn and spread the good value of 'PAYING IT FORWARD'. Make this world a better place. You can lend a hand to change the goodness in this world. Believe it, you can do it.

Seven Deadly Sins

Have you heard of the seven deadly sins? Well, I've read a novel recently about it and found out that it is related to Christianity. Seven deadly sins:

1. Luxuria meaning Lust

2. Gula meaning Gluttony

3. Avaritia meaning Greed

4. Acedia meaning Sloth

5. Ira meaning Wrath

6. Invidia meaning Envy

7. Superbia meaning Pride

This seven deadly sins also known as the cardinal sins. According to famous Wikipedia, these sins destroyed the life of grace, and created the threat of eternal damnation unless either absolved through the sacrament of confession, or forgiven through perfect contrition on the part of the penitent.

Deadly Sin #1: Lust

Lust or lechery is the thought of obsessive or excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. Unfulfilled lusts can lead to sexual or sociological compulsions and/or transgressions including sexual addiction, adultery, bestiality, rape, and incest. Be thankful for your spouse. It is said that people commits adultery because they are seaching for that 10% of satisfactory where as their spouse if providing them that 90% from the beginning of their marriage, be it good or bad.

Deadly Sin #2: Gluttony

Gluttony is the act of excessive eating or drinking that can lead to the point of waste. Thomas Aquinas stated a list of six ways to commit gluttony, including

Praepropere, eating too soon;
Laute (washedly), eating finely;
Nimis, eating too much;
Ardenter, eating burningly;
Studiose (keenly), eating daintily;
Forente (boringly), eating wildly.

Deadly Sin #3: Greed

Greed is also another deadly sin of excess, appearantly similar to lust and gluttony. Greed is applied to desire to the acquisition of excessive wealth. Examples of greed activities are such as bribery, scavenging, hoarding, theft, trickery, and manipulation that results in gaining desired by the wrong way. Greed can alter humanity and leads to treason, deliberate betrayal and disloyalty. Wealth is materialistic possession. Rather than chasing this unworthy possession that you can't even bring to your bed on the day you rest in peace, pursue those possessions that can be cherish forever. Possessions such as love and spiritual ones.

Deadly Sin #4: Sloth

Earlier of the century, sloth is known as sin of sadness and despair. Dante refined this further, describing sloth as being the "failure to love God with all one's heart, all one's mind and all one's soul." As for modern days, sloth is closely related to laziness which is dislikes of work especially involving physical movement. God gives us specific talent, skills and abilities in each unique individual. Failure to utilize it fully could be labelled as sloth. This sin is actually the least deadly sin among all seven deadly sins.

Deadly Sin #5: Wrath

Wrath is excessive anger which can leads to vengeance, destruction and suffering to others. Uncontrollable anger and hatred can be categorized as wrath. The transgressions borne of vengeance are among the most serious, including murder, assault, and in extreme cases, genocide. Excessive anger or hatred, whether it is related to selfishness or the other way around is another deadly sin. Be patience and be cool. When you feel like turning into Hulk, pin-point that wrath is one of the seven deadly sins. Count one until ten, breath in and breath out. Wrath does not solve anything. Vengeance does not solve anything. Seek for advise or see

Deadly Sin #6: Envy

Envy which can be described as the resentful or unhappy feeling of wanting somebody else's success, good fortune, qualities, or possessions. Those who commit this sin those who commit the sin of envy resent that another person has something they perceive themselves as lacking, and wish the other person to be deprived of it. This sin is usually described as the pleasure of seeing another suffer. Envy leads to unsatisfactory which leads to someone doing bad or bad-mouthing of another, later to gain sinful pleasure of seeing others brought low. Be humble and be satisfied of what is gained, whether it is worth to what you have contribute. God is the witness of your deed and he will reward you in future.

Deadly Sin #7: Pride

Pride. Yes, pride is one of the deadly sin. It is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and indeed the ultimate source from which the others arise. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to give compliments to others though they may be deserving of them, and excessive love of self (especially holding self out of proper position toward God). Pride is good but excessive pride is not the same. Be proud of what you think you have done best and be satisfied.

Overall, be moderate and be satisfied. If you can master this two thing, you will be far away from these seven deadly sins. Seems easy since it is only two thing to master? Try to master it first. Things are never that easy.

Upon the seven deadly sins, the opposite, the good:

Lust --> Chastity (plainess or simplicity)

Gluttony --> Temperance (self-restrain)

Greed --> Charity (generosity)

Sloth --> Diligence

Wrath --> Patience

Envy --> Kindness

Pride -->Humility

One event happened recently. Let's take a peek, shall we?

One week before...
B: C, please remind me to get ready all the preparations ready for event 1 and event 2.
C: Ok.

Few days later...
C: How's the preparation going for event 1 and event 2? A smsed me, said he listed out names to give to you.
B: I totally forgot! I was busy here and there! The names need to be fax A.S.A.P! Event 1 is this week and event 2 is next! (@_@)
C: (deep big sigh) I'll help to type out the schedule and paperwork for event 1. A will handle event 2.

Hours later...
C: Hey, A. This is schedule for event 1. B made it just now and he wants name list for event 2.
A: Ok. I already listed out the names for few but we are short on people.
C: B said we can take from juniors. When we can ask them?
A: Let's go together right now.

Next two days, there's meeting. A prepared for the venue booking and stuff. A even called friends to help with the foods. Event 1 was swell...

One week before event 2...
A: Hey! How's the preparation going? Could you help me to take the paperwork from B?
C: I'm not so sure. B contacted me recently, said he's handling everything. Ok, I'll help you get that.

Moments later...
C: How's the preparation going? A called me to get the paperwork from you, B.
B: OMG! I forgot! Can you get from me by tomorrow?
C: (Big deep sigh) Fine.

C tried to call A but A is out of reach.

Next day...
C: The paperwork?
B: Ya, I finished it. I am so damn busy! Here and there.. Bla.. Bla.. Bla..
C: I'll send the paperwork to the top.

C brings paperwork to the top.
C: This is the paperwork for event 2, sir.
Top: (Reads and approve) Ok. I'll see to this later. Check the result back here in the afternoon.
C: Thanks, sir.

C abandoned the crisis for a while to work on another crisis..
Afternoon..
A: Where are you? This afternoon still on?
C: This afternoon? Man! Yes! Yes! Please help me see to that for a while? I need to get something done for a while!
A: Ok ok. Just get here later.

Moments later...
C: I'm here regarding event earlier on.
Top: I have approve it. Now, you get this forms, fill it in and bring it back.

C brings back the forms to A since A is the president.
C: Here is the forms needed to be filled. I can't find B. B is not around.
A:I'll just fill it and ask recognition from other dep.

So, that whole afternoon, C and A walked around to finish up with the preparations.

Last two days before event 2...
B: (in meeting) This couple of weeks has been busy for me. I was bla.. bla.. bla.. Thanks to C who helped me.
C: (shocked and pointed at A)
B: Oh yes. A too. Thanks! C bla.. bla.. bla...

By the end of the meeting, C tried talking to A. A would not listen. A was hurt because all A's work was not looked upon by B. C smsed A...
C: Hey, are you ok?
A: Yeah, I am fine. It was nothing.
C: Oh, ok. B told me that B is going to handle to breakfast for tomorrow.
A: Are you sure? I don't think so. Let us watch.

C: Hey, B. I'm telling you that A is doing a great job here. Why didn't you mention about A?
B: A did? I didn't know that.
C: Sure you don't! That why I am telling you!
B: I'll remind myself to thank A later on.

Last day before event 2...
B called another meeting with all the others from main headquater...
B: This is bla.. bla.. bla...

Meeting goes on then suddenly...
B: So, how about breakfast for tomorrow?
C: (dead shocked) (What the..?! Yesterday told me B going to handle everything! Now?!)
A: (smirked at C) See? I've told you.

A is smart. A is responsible. As a viewer, I had admit him as probably one of hundred that you find in this world. He is born with a leadership skill, swift moves as organizer and also an addition, sharp mouth. You can't deny that. But A is quite an avenge person. Yes, B is not honoring A for what A has done. Reason?! A did everything on silent mode, without any interaction with B. It is a noble thing did A done but I mean like, please! Don't explode your anger just because your hard work is not visible by B. C seen it and A knows that. Don't treat someone as a sand bag! It's not a pleasant sight! Be a gentleman that you claim to be! "It's ok. I'm alright with it. I work behind the curtain"? Do you really mean that or it is just words to please yourself and others?

I'm shooting this back at you since you're shooting someone first without knowing the whole truth. SYT...

Still wondering what is MQA? MQA is acronym for Malaysian Qualification Agency. Since we are the pioneer group, the quality of our tasks and assignments, projects and etc will determine whether our degree will be qualified or not. This will not only affect us but our juniors as well. The burden we are carrying now... For all those photostated notes and tasks, we spent around MYR 6k for it. O_O Fingers cross, hope all this goes well.

KAGUM Unit Beruniform (UB) 2008 this year is at Ulu Lipur Forest Reserve, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. This event is only held once every four years. Lucky! All the uniform units; Red Crescent, KRS, Scout, Girls Guide and PPIM will be going. There was like 55 of us from IPTAR, almost a whole plane. "P

Our luggage was like few hundreds kg. Luckily, we have like 1200kg bag access limit. Hahaha. I am glad that I got the chance to take part in this rare event. Met new friends and some old ones too. The camping was not tough. I mean the Red Crescent unit was quite care free. We only need to do kitchen duty twice that week for the whole 300 participants, one night sentry, and twice of cleaning duty. We managed to visit Nilai, the centre of textiles before going back. ^_^
